Nd:YLF

Nd:YLF  is a solid state laser material which can be pumped with ARC lamp or laser diodes. Because of its relatively long fluorescence lifetime it can be used in Q-switched systems. One of main frequency-doubled Nd:YLF pulses application is to pump ultrafast Ti:Sapphire chirped-pulse amplifiers.

Advantages:

High power, low beam divergence, efficient single mode operation

High average power Q-switching at a moderate repetition rate

Linear polarized resonators for Q-switching and frequency doubling

Thermal lensing lower than that of YAG

1053nm output of Nd:YLF matches gain curves of Nd:Glass and performs well as an oscillator and pre-amplifier for this host

Nd:YLF crystal emission (lasing):

Both emission wavelengths of Neodymium-doped YLF (Nd:YLF) depends on polarization:

1047 nm (strongest lasing peak) has π polarization (a-axis)

1053 nm (lasing peak) is for σ polarization (c-axis)

Nd:YLF is sometimes preferred substitute for Nd:YAG crystal
